Lisa Alletson is a Canadian writer who grew up in South Africa and the UK. After a series of life-changing events, she found herself constantly seeking quietude. Writing became a source of stillness and a way to heal.

Lisa's prize-winning debut poetry chapbook, Good Mother Lizard, (Headlight Review) will be published in September, 2022. Her poetry and creative non-fiction stories have appeared in literary journals including Crab Creek Review, New Ohio Review, Typehouse Literary, Bear Review, Lumiere Review, Gone Lawn, Bending Genres, as well as The Globe and Mail. She studied with Carl Phillips in the 2022 Kenyon Review Summer Workshop. Lisa writes on Twitter at @LotusTongue.

Lisa's peaceful place is the Big Rideau Lake, where she writes, paddleboards with her dog, plays boardgames and chess with her family. But mostly she stares into the lake, hoping it will look back. For more information, visit her website lisaalletson.com
